College Football Makes My World All Right

Thank God for college football! This has been an extremely frustrating year in some respects. It seems that all I have had to talk about is the sorry state of our political system. However, September brings a new day, if only on Saturdays and Sundays.

My beloved Crimson Tide are starting the year #2 overall, but whether they win it all is secondary. I know. A Bama fan saying championships are secondary seems…insane. Just stay with me for a minute. Growing up in the South makes college football a passion almost by birthright. It often gets bequeathed to you from family. I am a Crimson Tide fan because of my father, who grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

So, on this Saturday, September 3, 2011, I am a happy camper. College football has started, and the world is a little better. I can forget about all of the political bullshit, at least for a weekend.

Alabama Pounds Mississippi State

Well, the inevitable occurred. Alabama beat MSU. Before the game, I caught some video of an MSU fan giving Bama the one way sign.

Wow! That’s one great edjumacation they get down in Starkville.

Vanderbilt’s 2008 Home Opener

Since Lynn works for Vanderbilt, we get a big discount on season tickets. As you can see from the photo, we got great seats at the 50 yard line. Even though I’m a huge Crimson Tide fan, I can always appreciate going to a college football game. Having season tickets to an SEC team is even better. By now you know Vandy upset the #24 Gamecocks, 24-17. The night was great for football, and was only slightly lessened by some rage-aholic SC fans a few rows behind us. With Florida, Auburn and Tennessee still on the schedule, the games should be a lot of fun. By the way, wasn’t it great to see ‘Bama beat the crap out of Clemson?!?! Also, leave it to Tennessee to not hold up the SEC’s dominance this past weekend.
